Management theories are the set of general rules that guide the managers to manage an organization. Theories are an explanation to assist employees to effectively relate to the business goals and implement effective means to achieve the same. Management functions are not limited to managers and supervisors. The principles of management then are the means by which you actually manage, that is, get things done through others individually, groups or organizations. The principles of management are the activities that “plan, organize, and control the operations of the basic elements of materials, machines, methods, money and markets, providing direction and coordination to achieve the sought objectives of the enterprise.
